Visa recently announced, in collaboration with DigitSecure and HDFC Bank, the first successful live implementation of a PCI certified Tap to Phone card acceptance solution. The first retailer to go live with HDFC Bank as an acquirer is DeliveryPlus. This solution allows merchants to safely accept contactless card payments on their NFC-enabled Android smartphones in seconds via an app.
DigitSecure is the first company based in the Asia Pacific to earn PCI security certification for deploying this technology in line with the ‘Made in India’ target of local innovation. For swift, safe and secure transactions, cardholders will be able to tap their contactless cards and near-field communication-enabled smartphones on a merchant’s Android smartphone.
Seshadri Kulkarni, CEO of DigitSecure, commented on the partnership: “It is becoming increasingly important for merchants of all types and sizes to deliver contact-free digital payments at all points of customer interaction.”
“Global businesses will find the platform compelling for it helps deliver consistent customer experience by way of minimal integrations and changes,” he added.
As per a recent Visa report, about 55 percent of consumers surveyed during the pandemic in India said that because of its ease of use, saving time, and removing the need to carry cash, they will likely use the Tap to Phone payment system. This reaffirms the need for contactless payments and trust in them.
