Many workplace apps that was trendy 5 years ago have gone out of style. Companies are starting to use tools and apps that are more tailored to their needs.
Apps such as Lucidchart and GitHub join the top 15 most popular apps by number of customers for the first time. Office 365 is ranked first and takes the lead from the likes of G Suite and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Surprisingly Salesforce which specializes in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) came in second. G Suite showed faster year-over-year growth, increasing its number of customers by 37%, versus Office 365’s 36% customer growth.
Looking at the active unique users, apps like Zoom and Ultipro join the ranks of top apps, and G Suite pushes ahead of Salesforce. G Suite’s year-over-year growth stands out at 50% for active unique users, while Office 365 has experienced 38% active unique user growth.

Looking at the list, developer tools are making the biggest waves. The Atlassian Product Suite jumped into fifth place while GitHub, acquired by Microsoft in late 2018 joins the rank at #13. Flowchart design tool LucidChart earns a spot on the list too.
Social Media apps like LinkedIn and Twitter together with GoDaddy were off the list while collaboration app like Slack and Zoom have quickly risen among working professionals over the years.
