LG Electronics (LG) revealed its vision for AI-enhanced customer experiences under the theme “Life’s Good 24/7 with Affectionate Intelligence” at the LG World Premiere event in Las Vegas on January 6, just before CES 2025, which is considered the world’s most influential tech event.
To illustrate the breadth of LG’s Affectionate Intelligence-driven customer experience, the event stage was divided into three sections, representing different environments in people’s lives: home, mobility, and commercial spaces. Through engaging demonstrations that highlighted real-life scenarios, LG showcased how its advanced AI will positively transform everyday life.
LG’s “Affectionate Intelligence” redefines the traditional notion of AI by emphasising its potential to revolutionise the customer experience. This concept utilises AI technology to gain a deeper understanding of and empathy for customers, delivering more personalised and unique experiences.
The LG World Premiere began with a video titled “Less Artificial, More Human,” followed by a keynote address from LG CEO William Cho.
Empowering AI-based integrated services with Microsoft
To further his vision of delivering compelling integrated services, CEO Cho announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft. This collaboration aims to drive innovation by merging LG’s products and customer insights from various environments—home, mobility, and commercial—with Microsoft’s AI technology to deliver empathetic AI-integrated services.
Judson Althoff, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Microsoft, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “At Microsoft, we believe AI will fundamentally change the way we live and work, and we could not be more excited to partner with LG Electronics—the pioneers of smart, connected spaces—to integrate AI into everyday experiences.”
The two companies are working on enhancing AI agents for various settings, including homes, vehicles, hotels, and offices. LG has been incorporating Microsoft’s voice recognition and speech synthesis technologies into its Self-Driving AI Home Hub, allowing it to comprehend various accents, pronunciations, and colloquial expressions. The partnership also plans to develop AI agents that not only understand and interact with customers but also anticipate their needs and preferences.
Althoff further announced that Microsoft intends to collaborate with LG in the rapidly expanding arena of AI data centres. By leveraging LG’s thermal management systems and advanced chiller technologies specifically designed for AI data centres, the partnership aims to improve energy efficiency in these essential components of AI infrastructure. Together, the companies plan to create next-generation data centres that are more efficient and sustainable. – Korea IT Times
