Italy opened a visa application centre in Thailand and another centre in Cambodia in April 2024.
The new visa centres aim to ease travel procedures and improve customer service.
Through the new centres, authorities aim to facilitate the travel procedures for Thai and Cambodian citizens, amidst growing tourism and trade, SchengenVisaInfo reports.
The visa application centre in Phnom Phen, Cambodia, opened on April 22, 2024, while the centre in Bangkok, Thailand, opened on April 24, 2024.
During the latter’s inauguration, Italy’s Ambassador to Thailand, Paolo Dionisi, underscored the importance of these two countries for Italian tourism and investments.
“Thailand and Cambodia are key sources of both tourism and investments for Italy, and also for these reasons, we are very committed to streamlining procedures for travellers,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kaushik Gosh from VFS Global said that these visa application centres will improve customer experience, making the visa application process smoother and providing better service for applicants.
“The new and upgraded centre in Bangkok, Thailand, along with two others in Chiang Mai and Phuket will play a crucial role in effectively catering to the growing demand for travel to Italy, one of the most popular destinations in the world,” he said.
“The newly launched centre in Phnom Phen is also set to make the Italy visa application submission process seamless for applicants in Cambodia.”
Thai citizens can now apply for all short-term Italian visas at the new visa centre in Bangkok, which will be open from Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 16:00.
Applicants can book appointments online or by visiting the centre in person, on a first-come, first-served basis.
As further revealed, the new visa centres have modern amenities and well-trained customer service agents to help applicants throughout the process.
To enhance customer experience further, Italy visa applicants get dedicated call-centre support from 8:30AM to 5:30PM from Monday to Friday, along with the click-to-talk facility, and email and Web Chatbot support for quick query resolution.
