Shopee Malaysia, an eCommerce platform, has published a booklet that features homegrown sellers from each state to encourage Malaysians to purposefully shop Made-in-Malaysia products and to help drive economic growth.
Shopee Spotlights Local, is a 100-page digital booklet that includes Shopee sellers who are top performing in terms of popularity, biggest storefronts, green products, exporters, live streamers, and women-owned businesses, according to a statement by the brand.
“Malaysian businesses near you are often the beating heart of our local economy and the backbone of our communities. When you shop locally online, you are supporting made-in-Malaysia products from underserved communities, ” said Kenneth Soh, head of marketing at Shopee Malaysia.
Available to the public on Malaysia’s National Day in both English and Malay language which falls on August 31st, the booklet will also feature street-level stories and testimonials of sellers who have used their online success to uplift others in their communities.
Sellers such as Zeeda Aziz of Pasar Kedah, Edward Wong of HomeDecoStore and Hafiz Oon of Mr Bentong, to name a few, will be featured in the booklet as they describe how they pursued their eCommerce goals despite challenges.
To expand the reach of the booklet, Shopee will also be distributing 15,000 free copies to users in all states for free when receive their parcels from SPX by Malaysia Day.
The book doubles as a guide for users to protect themselves against eCommerce scams as it offers tips on shopping safely, understanding Shopee Guarantee, identifying responsible sellers, and its authenticity policy.
Shopee Malaysia has been consistently supporting local sellers as it recently launched the Shopee 360 Marketing Solutions to enhance the skills of its sellers. It also enables them to stay relevant to the shifting values of younger audiences online by embracing value-based marketing at Shopee’s Seller Summit this year.
The sixth instalment of Shopee Malaysia’s annual summit saw 1,200 Malaysian sellers from its platform at Sunway Resort who learnt how to drive unique values through user experience, authentic storytelling, and seamless engagement through pop-up booths with head of digital industry development, Fadzli Abdul Wahit in attendance.
