KPJ Ampang currently holds the third cycle gold seal of approval.
In 2018, KPJ Ampang was awarded the Planetree Gold certification by Planetree International in our excellence in Person-Centered Care hospital in the Southeast Asia region. Planetree is a concept guided by ten (10) components of person-centered care, representing the patient's voice and assisting healthcare providers in engaging with patients and family members. KPJ Ampang received the "Planetree Affiliated" status for actively practising all Planetree components: human interactions, human touch, nutrition and nurturing, healthy community, architecture & design, information and education, healing arts, social support, complementary therapy, and spirituality.
With all these awards and accreditations, KPJ Ampang's ultimate goal is to adhere to patient safety goals. We aim to ensure our patients are always safe in our premises while receiving their medical treatment and care by observing the six (6) core principles of patient safety goals and simultaneously providing them with the best patient (customer) experience.
Our patient experience journey begins from the moment they step foot at our doorstep. They are greeted with a warm welcome by our seasoned and friendly customer service personnel, who then assist the patients to their desired destination, such as to the specialist or the Premier Wellness clinics. Then the patients are directed to the respective services such as the laboratory or the diagnostic and imaging services and finally to the pharmacy to collect their medications as prescribed by the medical consultants. Whether pre- or post-COVID 19, we continue to provide an excellent customer experience by providing complimentary drinks during peak hours, complimentary upgrade of rooms, get-well-soon bouquets, birthday hampers, balloons for the little ones, and many more. We even provide transportation (if needed) for discharged patients, drive-thru medication pick-up, and home medication delivery services.
Moreover, follow-up calls are made to every patient within 48 hours, whether they are treated as outpatient or inpatient. Food and beverages are provided during the stay, with a dietary menu suitable for the patient's medical condition and nutritional needs. Patients in the premier ward will have their meals served by the dedicated butler to cater to their dietary needs, resulting in some patients calling the hospital their second home.
Patients are always encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions to us for our continual improvement in quality care. One of our approaches is through direct communication with patients through verbal or written modes. We are committed to hearing their concerns and suggestions, and our proactive actions ensure our patients get the best treatment possible. This approach has increased the patient satisfaction index, evident through the monthly patient survey activity results.

Should the patients need an in-house interpreter, we have dedicated personnel who have mastered Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Tamil, Chinese, and even Korean. The bereavement teams are also in place to address grieving patients and relatives. Patient liaison officers are also available to assist our patients at any time. We are indeed privileged to assist various people from royalty, diplomats, cabinet ministers, corporate heads, and the general public without any prejudice or discrimination.
Patient-focus groups, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, Antenatal class, Basic Life Support (BLS) training, Storytelling, Clown services for the little ones, and Pot painting are still conducted with proper standard operating procedures in place, including the hand hygiene program held in nearby schools. We regularly upgrade, refurbish and renovate our facility to create a calm and relaxing ambience.
