As one of the most representative service providers supporting ageing-in-place in Hong Kong, Icon Medical Group (“IconMed”) is principally engaged in the provision of professional caregiving training, private nursing services and second medical opinion consultation services through its team of medical, nursing and training professionals. In addition to high-quality private care for the elderly and other dependants like people under rehabilitation or with disabilities or chronic illness, IconMed provides training programmes to caregivers (including family and non-family members and foreign domestic helpers of care recipients), equipping them with the required professional caregiving skills and knowledge.
Customer Engagement Strategy and Channels
IconMed is the first caregiver training institution in Hong Kong that has been accredited by City & Guilds, Training Qualifications UK (TQUK), American Caregiver Association (ACA) and American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI); and it joins hands with Hong Kong Cardiac Nursing Association (HKCNA) in organising a comprehensive training programme, which covers First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED). An unmatched advantage of IconMed’s training programme is that graduates are entitled to obtain several internationally-recognised certifications, including: (i) “Certificate in First Aid and CPR with AED” from HKCNA; (ii) “Assured Professional Certificate in Caregiving” from City & Guilds; (iii) “Certificate in Caregiving (Level 2)” from TQUK; (iv) “National Caregiver Certification” from ACA; and (v) “CPR, AED and Basic First Aid” Certification from ASHI.IconMed also adopts an all-rounded and patented “Elite Caregiver” approach, which not only equips participants with the necessary knowledge and skills, but also helps them cultivate the right attitude of being a caregiver. Besides, IconMed provides Cantonese or Mandarin training for foreign domestic helpers and arranges volunteer services at elderly homes for participants, so as to enhance their communication capability and practical experience.
IconMed has also been subsidizing caregivers for participating in tailor-made caregiving training in preparation for their provision of caregiving services to care recipients.
In particular, IconMed collaborates with other well-established organisations in providing its caregiving training for supporting ageing-in-place in Hong Kong and one of these organisations is The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) (香港房屋協會) whereby IconMed’s free caregiving training services are provided to the foreign domestic helpers taking care of HKHS’s elderly tenants. By seeking further collaboration with other organisations in the future, IconMed believes that it can further expand the reach to benefit more elderly and thereby facilitating ageing-in-place in Hong Kong.
